Jamiroquai
About
On 8 November 2025, Jamiroquai set the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Décines alight. Led by the iconic Jason Kay, the British band reunited with their fans for an evening filled with groove, energy and good cheer.
A leading figure on the funk and acid jazz scene, Jamiroquai took the audience on a true musical journey through their greatest hits, driven by Jason Kay’s unique style and charisma. With catchy rhythms, a festive atmosphere and unmissable tracks, the band had the Lyon crowd dancing all night long for a truly memorable evening.
Formed in the early 1990s in London, Jamiroquai was founded under the impetus of its charismatic frontman Jason Kay, the band’s main songwriter. At the height of the acid jazz craze, the name ‘Jamiroquai’ combines the word ‘jam’, evoking musical improvisation, with ‘Iroquai’, a reference to the Iroquois Native American tribe. As early as 1992, their first single, ‘When You Gonna Learn?’, caused a sensation and secured the band an eight-album deal with Sony.
Jamiroquai’s career took on a whole new dimension in 1996 with the release of their third album, *Travelling Without Moving*. Driven by the unmissable hits *Virtual Insanity* and *Cosmic Girl*, the album catapulted the band onto the international stage. Their unique blend of funk, soul, jazz and pop appealed to an ever-widening audience, whilst their music videos – which have since achieved cult status – contributed to their immense success.
Buoyed by this global recognition, Jamiroquai went on to produce a string of landmark projects. Notably, the band released ‘Deeper Underground’, the lead track from the soundtrack to the film *Godzilla*, before continuing their journey with several albums in which they developed their style whilst retaining their instantly recognisable funky sound. Over the years, Jason Kay has established himself as one of the key figures on the British music scene.
Following the release of a ‘Greatest Hits’ album, which marked the end of their contract with Sony BMG Music, Jamiroquai returned in 2017 with *Automaton*. More than two decades after their debut, the band continues to thrill fans with their energy, their irresistible groove and their musical world, which remains as unique as ever.
