A new team LDLC ASVEL match awaits you at the LDLC Arena on 24 September

On 24 September, LDLC ASVEL invites its supporters to come and see the team’s new look. Facing Maccabi Tel Aviv at the LDLC Arena, the Villeurbanne side will kick off their EuroLeague season with a revamped squad, a new coaching staff and a fresh dynamic spearheaded by Tony Parker.

A fresh start for LDLC ASVEL 

LDLC ASVEL is heading into this new season with the ambition of opening a new chapter in its history. This summer, the club has made a number of changes to lay the foundations for a long-term project. From the coaching staff to player recruitment, and including internal organisation, numerous changes have been implemented to support this new direction.

The first EuroLeague match against Maccabi Tel Aviv will therefore be much more than just a return to competition. It will be the first opportunity for fans to see this new version of LDLC ASVEL in action during a big European night at the LDLC Arena.

Tony Parker at the helm

The most significant change during the off-season undoubtedly concerns Tony Parker. Having served as the club’s president for over ten years, the former NBA champion has now taken on the role of head coach of the professional team. This decision has been presented as the start of a new chapter in the club’s history.
No stranger to the biggest basketball courts, Tony Parker will now lead the team from the bench.

A largely new squad

To support this new season, LDLC ASVEL has also carried out a major overhaul of its squad. Twelve new players have joined the Villeurbanne side, demonstrating the club’s determination to build on a fresh start.

Among the most eagerly awaited new signings is Patty Mills, an NBA champion and former team-mate of Tony Parker at the San Antonio Spurs. The squad also welcomes experienced players such as Jae Crowder, Joel Bolomboy and Tremont Waters, as well as up-and-coming talents including TyTy Washington, Hugo Besson, Yves Pons and Mathis Dossou-Yovo.

This blend of international experience, athletic players and young talent should enable LDLC ASVEL to start the season with renewed vigour.

A team of experts to support the project

LDLC ASVEL’s revival is not confined to the court. The club has put together a particularly experienced coaching staff to support the team’s development.

As offensive coordinator, Vincent Collet – a leading figure in French coaching and former manager of the French national team – will bring his expertise to shaping the team’s playing style.

Defence will be led by Dounia Issa, voted Coach of the Year in Elite 2 last season, whilst Bryan George, returning after a stint on the Atlanta Hawks’ coaching staff, will take charge of the transition game. The players’ individual development will be overseen by Joseph Gomis, supported in particular by Georgi Joseph and Martin Diakité. Finally, the sporting management team will be able to draw on the experience of two iconic figures in French basketball: Charles Kahudi and Florent Piétrus.

First match against Maccabi Tel Aviv 

On 24 September, come and witness the new LDLC ASVEL take to the court for the first time at the LDLC Arena. Against Maccabi Tel Aviv, supporters will have the chance to see a largely revamped squad, a strengthened coaching staff and the new dynamic brought about by Tony Parker. A must-see first European fixture to kick off this new adventure.
